Acting on Suggestions

Suggestions are recommendations, not requirements. You decide which to apply.

Applying suggestions

Each suggestion appears as a comment on your PR with the recommended fix.

To apply a suggestion:

1. Find the suggestion in your PR's "Files changed" tab
2. Click Apply suggestion to commit the fix directly
3. Or batch multiple suggestions with Add suggestion to batch → Commit suggestions

GitHub commits the change for you—no manual editing needed.

Suggestion format

File: src/components/Button.tsx:42
Original: "Click here to submit"
Issue: Uses vague "click here" instead of describing the action
Suggested: "Submit your application"

• File — Location of the string
• Original — Current text
• Issue — What doesn't align with your guidelines
• Suggested — Recommended alternative

Ignoring suggestions

Not every suggestion needs action. Skip if:

• The suggestion doesn't fit context
• You prefer your original phrasing
• The string is intentionally different

Adjusting guidelines

If you frequently disagree with certain suggestions, your guidelines may need updating. On Pro or Team, you can customize rules to better match your voice.
